Approval of Weighing Equipment of Container

Formalities and Required Documents

Applicants can apply and submit the following in person or by post to the Marine and Water Bureau:

  1. Applicant’s name and contact information, including the name of person in charge, telephone number, fax number and address;
  2. A photocopy of the latest business registration certificate in respect of its establishment, issued by the Commerce and Movable Property Registry (The applicant can request the Marine and Water Bureau to access the business registration certificate via the joint network established by the Legal Affairs Bureau in order to be exempted from submitting the concerned document);
  3. Information of all weighing equipment to be used, including location, maker, model, serial number, type (such as crane scale, weighbridge etc.), year of manufacture, maximum capacity, accuracy, photos of relevant weighing equipment;
  4. Supporting document of calibration of weighing and measuring equipment issued by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the latest calibration record of the weighing equipment (including detailed tolerance report);
  5. Sample of weighing report (refer to the weighing report in the “Guidelines on the Verification of Gross Mass of a Packed Container” (sample for reference) (no English translation).

Documents required to be processed / applied in advance:

  1. A photocopy of the latest business registration certificate in respect of its establishment, issued by the Commerce and Movable Property Registry (The applicant can request the Marine and Water Bureau to access the business registration certificate via the joint network established by the Legal Affairs Bureau in order to be exempted from submitting the concerned document);
  2. Supporting document of calibration of weighing and measuring equipment issued by the Municipal Affairs Bureau.

Notes:

  • The Marine and Water Bureau will require applicants to submit supplementary information on a case by case basis.
  • Applicants can submit information about relevant weighing experience which strengthens the application.
