Imaginative children’s theatre at CCM A fantastic world of cats, dogs, peas and princesses

The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents two programmes for little children and their families to be staged this December. Spanish company Teatre Animal bring us Like Cat & Dog, an interactive multimedia theatre for kids four years old and above. Babies and toddlers will also have their moment with A Little Lamp, Pea and Feather, a theatrical adaptation of an Andersen’s classic tale, running from December 29.

Like Cat & Dog is brought by Spanish troupe Teatre Animal, an awarded company whose shows break with theatrical conventions interacting with space and audience. This animated adventure dwells upon friendship relations and the feelings they trigger, set to a music score specially composed for the show. The piece is taking the little ones into a world of fiction and affection whose characters are drawn live on screen, before their own eyes. Suitable for audiences of all cultures, this lively show blends visual arts with performance, multimedia and music.

With the staging of A Little Lamp, Pea and Feather, our littlest friends will be thrilled to wander around the magical world, through a gentle performance that will lull toddlers into an enchanting story inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s tale The Princess and the Pea. Imagined by Slovenia’s Ljubljana Puppet Theatre, the performance welcomes kids one year old and above into a bright, colourful setting, immersing them into a sensory experience of visual and sound effects, from the tolling of little bells and harp playing, to the repetition of simple sounds, syllables and words, telling the audience a story about a young prince searching for his dream princess.

CCM presents Like Cat and Dog on December 20, 2017 at the small Auditorium, whereas A Little Lamp, Pea and Feather will be staged at the same venue, from December 29, 2017 to January 1, 2018. Both performances will be complemented by a string of workshops conceived to inspire kids and their families.
