The Macao delegates attended the Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation as part of the Chinese delegation, the event of which was held in Beijing from 31 January to 01 February 2018. The Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation (Ministerial Conference) which was jointly hosted by the International Civil Aviation Organization and the Civil Aviation Administration of China was convened in Beijing from 31 January to 01 February 2018. The delegations eventually signed the Beijing Declaration to agree on maintaining aviation safety and enhancing air navigation services.
The hosting of the high level Ministerial Conference was agreed among the delegates of the 53rd Conference of the Directors General of Civil Aviation, Asia Pacific, held in 2016 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The date of the Conference was defined last year. The objective of the event was to gather the civil aviation heads to discuss on the promotion of the safety monitoring and the safe operations of the air transport industry. The event was the first of its kind to be convened in the Asia Pacific Region.
The Ministerial Conference was composed of two sessions: the first session being the presentations by all states on the development of aviation safety and air navigation services in their areas, and the second session being the discussions on the effective implementation of their work to promote the safe operations in the Region. The discussions were eventually concluded with the signing of the Beijing Declaration on 01 February 2018 of which all states promise to jointly commit to maintain aviation safety, enhance air traffic management capacity and harmonization, build up an independent accident investigation authority and accord priority to human capital development and so on.
The Macao delegates, led by the Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Mr. Raimundo Rosário, attended the Ministerial Conference and participated in the discussions as part of the Chinese delegation.
The two-day event was convened in the Beijing Hotel. About 300 participants who represented 42 delegations coming from 36 countries and 6 international organizations were present.
