Cultural Affairs Bureau announces the results of the open calls for the “Tap Siac Craft Market 10th Anniversary Programme”


Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the “Tap Siac Craft Market” will be held from 13 to 15 April and from 20 to 22 April 2018. On the occasion of 10th anniversary of the “Tap Siac Craft Market”, IC launched the “10th Anniversary Programme” to celebrate this anniversary with residents and called for proposals of a series of programmes, including the categories “interactive art installations”, “stage performance” and “creative handicraft workshops”. The results of the selection were announced on 8 March.

In the “interactive art installations” category, themed “Happiness”, a total of eight eligible entries were received. The adjudicating panel, composed by representatives of IC and the cultural and creative industries, selected two eligible entrants and their works: (the first prize was not awarded); HAPPY 10 by Xu Wei Xiong (second prize), entitled to a cash prize of MOP5,000; Giant Game Console by Post-1980s (group) (third prize),entitled to a cash prize of MOP3,000. The award ceremony will be held during the “Tap Siac Craft Market”.

In the “stage performances” category, which called for performances and works by local singer-songwriters and musical groups, a total of 27 eligible entries were received. As the number of submitted entries did not exceed the original quota, all entries were selected. 27 performing artists/groups will perform during the “Tap Siac Craft Market”, namely (in arbitrary order): Achum, Lo Hou Cheng, Leong Chi On, Sonia Ka Ian Lao & VJ Miguel Khan, Sakura music, Catalyser, At90'S, Cheong Ho Ian, NON STOP, Acid Rain, OverNight, Vanessa Yam, Sim Ming, “Bobby, Kay and Coolson”, Fall to Fly, CresCenDo, Lighter, Cass Lai, Alex Ao Ieong, Cheong Tong Tong, Bill Leong, Earth Chio, Kenny Lee, Elise Lei, Scream, HALF CAT, T & T.

The “creative handicraft workshops” category called for local creators to work as workshop tutors, teaching participants creative handcrafts skills. A total of 40 eligible entries were received, and 15 entries have been selected by drawing lots. The selected workshops are (in arbitrary order): Temari Hair Accessory, Colourful Flower Tree, Preserved Flower Ferris Wheel Lamp, Bonsai Forest, Preserved Flower Lamp, Happy Seeds Children’s Story Workshop—Kingdom of Cap (Hat Production), Let’s Paint! Watercolour Floral Wreath Workshop, Indigo Workshop, Korean Style Bouquet with Preserved Flowers, Who am I?—Creative Handicraft Workshop, Glass Terrarium Workshop, Succulent Plants Workshop, Balloon Twisting Workshop (Parent-Child Class), Handmade Baby Shoes, Handmade Wooden Camera.

Winners and selected applicants in each category will be notified by IC.
