The “2018 Macao International Museum Day Carnival”, co-organized by Macao’s museums, will be held on Sunday, 13th May. In response to this year’s International Museum Day, the Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will launch a series of educational and entertaining activities in May, including workshops, guided tours and talks, in order to raise the public awareness to this date.

On 13th May, the Macao Museum will hold a series of activities dedicated to the theme “The Mobile Museum – Taipa Houses x Taipa Story”, including two sessions of the Workshop of Firecracker Key Holder, to be held at the Taipa Houses, at 2:30pm and 4pm, as well as two guided tours entitled “The History and Evolution of Taipa Streets” at 3pm and 4pm, aimed at introducing to the public several streets of Taipa and their impact in the daily lives of local residents through the times.

The Macao Museum will also hold a series of outreach activities, including a talk titled “Underwater Archaeology and the Silk Route”, to be held on Saturday, 26th May, at 2:30pm, on the Auditorium of the Macao Museum. The talk will be conducted by the Deputy Director of the Guangdong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Cui Yong, taking the salvage and the excavation and preservation works of the ship Nanhai N.º 1 as an example to show to the public the key role of Guangdong Province in the development of China’s underwater archaeology, from its early days up to its developed stage. Admission to the aforementioned activities is free and open to the general public. Interested parties can register through the “Activity Registration System” at www.icm.gov.mo/eform/event/c/10.
