The University of Macau (UM) Dance Troupe recently represented Macao at a national inter-varsity art show. The team was selected by the Department of Physical, Health and Arts Education of the Ministry of Education of China. The team received an Outstanding Composition Award and a first prize for the dance project. Michael Li, the chief instructor of the UM Dance Troupe, who is also an assistant professor from the university’s Faulty of Education (FED), received a first prize for coaching the team.
With the theme being ‘Vision and Faith’, this year’s event presented various art performances and experiential activities. It attracted nearly 10,000 teachers and students from more than 400 universities in 31 provinces in mainland China, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, Hong Kong, and Macao.
The UM Dance Troup is formed by ten students, namely Tang Hio Ieng, a fourth-year student from the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) and Choi Kai Yau College; Sou Chon Wai, a first-year student from the Honours College (HC), FBA, and Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College; Ha Hio Wa, a first-year student from the HC, FBA, and Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC); Wong Kuai Man, a second-year student from the FED and Lui Che Woo College (LCWC); Zhao Tingxin, a first-year student from the FED and LCWC; Ho Pui Ieng, a third-year student from the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) and Chao Kuang Piu College (CKPC); Chu Heng-Hsuan, a third-year student from the FSS and CKPC; Lee Hau Yin, a second-year student from the FBA and CYTC; Wang Haoyi, a first-year student from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and CYTC; and Ho Ka Seng, a second-year student from the FST and Pearl Jubilee College.
