The 32nd Macao International Music Festival’s (MIMF) Outreach Programme features a total of 13 activities in six categories, including talks, pre-show talks, backstage tours, masterclass, meet-the-artists session and workshops, allowing music fans to feel the charm of art.

World-renowned Brazilian cellist Antonio Meneses is well known for his elegant and exquisite performance. He will conduct a masterclass in this edition of MIMF, mentoring local cello students in person to improve their playing skills. For Meet-the-artist, “The Looping Electronic Music World of Buddha Machine” will offer a unique musical experience. FM3, the electronic music duo from Beijing, who transformed the little plastic box into an experimental electronic music instrument, is going to give a short performance of Buddha Boxing.

Popular backstage tours will be carried on this year. The organizer takes the audience behind the scenes of the opera L'Elisir d'Amore, to explore how the costumes, props and sets help to createthe sceneries of an Italian village in the 19th century. Participants can experience the magical world behind the curtains at a close distance and feel the beauty of art. In “Kids DIY Symphony Workshop”, participants will make use of recycled materials to create simple musical instruments and enjoy the fun of crafting. They will then perform with their newly-crafted instruments and learn the ever-changing nature of music, thereby integrating environmental protection and fun of life. Furthermore, a number of talks and pre-show talks will be held during the Festival, which will be conducted by Chow Fan Fu, Lo Kingman, Mars Lei, Katrine K. Wong, Tina Fu and Leon Chu, exploring the diverse aspects of music and enhancing the audience’ artistic appreciation.

Online and phone registration for the outreach activities will be available from 9am on 6 August (Monday).
