“Jiangnan Silk and Bamboo Music” and Lingnan’s “Guangdong music” are both the cornersstones of traditional Chinese music. Jiangnan’s restfulness and elegance are perfectly depicted in Memories of Jiangnan, A Moonlit Night on the Spring River, Enfolded in Spring Breeze and Colourful Jiangnan, whereas Lingnan’s beauty and subtleness are portrayed in Strings of Lingnan, which has combined the melodies of two pieces of well-known Guangdong music - Autumn Moon over the Calm Lake and Rainy Day, and in United We Go, an adaptation of traditional Cantonese opera United We Go through the addition of grace notes. We have also invited Ms. Wu Li, Guzheng Professor and Associate Head of the Department of Chinese Music at Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Guangzhou, as well as young talents of the Macao Chinese Orchestra, to dazzle you with the musical experiences of two different regions.
