Goal | The Phase 1 programme is to broaden the professional perspective of the primary and secondary school English teachers in Macao, and to provide them with English teaching techniques and strategies, as well as a range of activities for use in their own classes. (The participants of Phase 1, who wish to enhance their English language skills through an immersion experience and to gain insights into creative and innovative English language teaching methodologies and teaching techniques, may submit applications for Phase 2 after completing Phase 1.) |
Message | The workshops are practical, relevant and fun, and the participating teachers will: • engage in and learn how to use a range of fun, motivating classroom activities suitable for use with primary and/or secondary students in Macau schools • develop their own English language skills Workshop 1: Teaching to Different Learning Styles All teachers know that learning is likely to be more successful when students feel safe, happy and motivated, and they also know that no two learners are the same. In the workshop, participants will determine their own learning styles, characteristics pertaining to different types of learners and how to engage and stimulate different learning styles. Through a series of practical activities, participants will also discover ways of providing activities and learning materials to suit students with different needs and abilities to ensure that every student has the chance to do well. Workshop 2: Simple Techniques with Big Effects This workshop presents ideas for integrating quick, simple and practical activities into lessons such as warmers, coolers, fillers to change pace; review and consolidate learning; motivate and engage primary and/or secondary learners; and ensure lessons are enjoyable and memorable. |
