Goal Recognize the different air pollutants, pollution sources and their environment and health. Know how to read the concentration values recorded in Macau for different air pollutants and understand how AQI is calculated. Understand which tools are available to mitigate the impacts of air pollution.
Message Session1 - Introduction to air pollution; - Pollutants: chemical characteristics, sources and environmental and health effects and risks; - Activity: How to check the air pollutants concentration in Macau; - Online resources for teachers. Session 2 - Air quality index (AQI) and air pollution index (API) systems around the world; - Activity: determination of AQI in Macau and analysis of AQI and pollutant concentrations around the world. Session 3 - Activity: Analysis of pollutants concentration in Macau – evolution in the last years; seasonal variation and meteorological influence; - Discussion of solutions to mitigate risks of air pollution.
