Goal This course will look in detail at the teaching and learning of vocabulary in secondary school classrooms, from Form 1 to Form 6. It will introduce a range of vocabulary teaching and learning activities which focus on specific aspects of English vocabulary (e.g. collocation, compounds, affixation, and so on), and teachers will develop the ability to adapt and use these to meet the learning needs of their students. It will also develop teachers’ understanding of English vocabulary—knowledge of what English vocabulary is, and pedagogical knowledge to improve students’ learning.
Message • Resources, materials and activities for the teaching and learning of vocabulary in secondary school classrooms • Vocabulary reference materials and resources for use by teachers and by students • Adapting materials and resources to meet specific classroom needs
