Three choreographers from different cultural backgrounds created three choreographic works in different styles for the Jin Xing Dance Theatre. Space 9, by Jin Xing, the icon of Chinese modern dance and artistic director of the eponymous dance theatre, is a piece for nine female dancers exploring women’s independent existence and physiological space within each’s distinctive physical movements. GUTS by award-winning Israeli choreographer Emanuel Gat, illustrates the courage and strength among people through dancers’ bodies. The highly-praised masterpiece Cage Birds by Dutch choreographer Arthur Kuggeleyn presents a unique choreography where physical movement, sounds and images are well-knit.

The Jin Xing Dance Theatre is a first class modern dance company in China. Besides providing performance opportunities for outstanding young dancers, it introduces works by international avant-garde choreographers, thus trying to build a forward-looking platform for dance creation and exchange.
