Chen Sa made her name at a young age. Being the only Chinese pianist to have won prizes at three prestigious international piano competitions, namely The Leeds International Piano Competition, the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, she is praised by the media as one of the most charismatic pianists today. A performer with exemplary skills, she has deep insight of the works and delivers graceful, intelligent and passionate performances acclaimed by critics as making you feel the lyrical beautywhile showing a volcanic 'underground'and the enormous potential of desperation of the music.
She will perform Beethoven's piano sonatas and Schumann's piano miniatures, which represent respectively the pinnacle of solo piano repertoire in the classical and romantic periods. The audience could feel Beethoven's youthful clarity and vitality in Piano Sonatas Nos. 4 and 10, recall childhood memories through Schumann's deftly and exquisitely crafted Kinderszenen, and explore the unbound spiritual world of the romanticists following Schumann's Kreisleriana.
