Composer John Cage shook up the music world with his invention of the prepared piano: by placing different objects inside the piano, a whole new palette of sounds is created. The workshop will explore the history of prepared piano, as well as the theory behind the sound alteration, the selection of materials and the techniques of preparing the piano. Participants will have a first-hand experience preparing and playing a prepared piano.
