The film Der Rosenkavalier, adapted from Richard Strauss’ eponymous opera, was directed by Robert Wiene and premiered in the 1920s. In this film full of humour, the plot starts with a secret date between the Marschallin and her young lover, from which the romantic entanglements of several characters are unveiled, and their longing for love is expressed through song and dance.

The film score was rearranged by Strauss based on the three-act opera, who also conducted the live orchestral performance at its premiere. In this year’s Festival, the Macao Orchestra will present the “Film Concert Der Rosenkavalier”, bringing the century-old audio-visual sensation to the audience. This enchanting performance is not to be missed!
