Sifoguk in Cantonese (or Sihuoju in Mandarin) refers to private Cantonese music gatherings and is part of the unique folk music culture in Cantonese areas, where music enthusiasts pick up their instruments, gather together and play familiar Cantonese music pieces, ancient melodies, modern tunes and even pop songs. This workshop will introduce the characteristics of Cantonese music and related instruments such as the qinqin, yehu and xiao. Participants will be invited to perform and exchange ideas with the musicians of the Cantonese Music Assembly.

Participants
Target: Individuals with Grade 4 or above in the Chinese music instrument examination, or with at least 3 years of performance experience
Number of participants: 18 (three places for dizi, xiao, huqin, sheng, pipa and zhongyuan respectively)

The deadline for registration is 16 October. Applicants should specify the musical instrument and provide information on their experience on the instrument for selection purposes.

Observers
Target: Audience aged 6 or above
Number of observers: 20

The deadline for registration is 20 October. In case of oversubscription, selection will be made by drawing lots.
