Macao, a pivotal harbour city in Southern China, has served as a trading centre between China and the West since the 16th century. Over the years, it has evolved into a significant hub for commercial and cultural exchanges between China, Portugal, and other European countries. Today, Macao stands as a beacon of cultural collaboration, establishing itself as “a base for exchange and cooperation, where Chinese culture takes center stage while embracing the coexistence of diverse cultures”. As a Sino-Lusophone Cultural Exchange Centre, Macao proudly promotes and facilitates artistic and cultural exchange and promotion, contributing to the cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. In this discussion, Macao and Portuguese artists will share their creative experiences at the intersection of Chinese and Portuguese cultures.
