The Macao International Music Festival continues to feature Bravo Macao!, offering local musicians a platform to showcase their talent, promote local music development and celebrate achievements of emerging stars.
Hoi Lei Lei, winner in Percussion (Advanced Level) at the Macao Young Musicians Competition in 1998 and former percussionist of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, studied percussion under Harmen Cnossen, former musician of the Macao Orchestra. She studied at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2004 with a grant from the Macao Foundation, and studied in a M.A. programme at Carnegie Mellon University in 2009, learning from the percussionist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Since 2004, Hoi has been the guest musician of the Macao Orchestra, and has made frequent appearances as a guest musician in the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra.
Raymond Vong, winner in Percussion (Advanced Level) at the Macao Young Musicians Competition in 2004, received a Bachelor of Music (Honours) and a Master of Music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Since 2013, he has been the principal percussionist of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, playing solo and in ensemble in Hong Kong and Macao. Vong has been a guest musician of Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Macao Orchestra and the North Carolina Symphony of the United States. He is currently a tutor of percussion at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and supervisor of the Macao Percussion Association.
