The large-scale original dance drama “Dragon Boat Racing” is set in the ancient town of Shawan in Guangdong in the 1930s. Based on the “He Shi Sanjie”, musicians from Guangdong, the Guangdong Song and Dance Ensemble presents a large-scale original national dance drama which revolves around the legendary classic composition Dragon Boat Racing, telling a story that takes place under turbulent social conditions. The creative force behind this story comes from enmity between nations and shattered families that overcome great challenges, thereby offering a thrilling music production.
“Dragon Boat Racing” features both national and modern characteristics, excelling at using contemporary dance artistic elements to interpret a legendary story. Graceful and vivid dance segments, which fuse Chinese dance with modern dance, express a moving story of a music classic and its profound meaning and tell stories of music and life through dance. The dance drama “Dragon Boat Racing” has toured over 20 cities, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Nanning, Haikou, Urumqi, Hong Kong as well as New York, earning praise from the public and professionals from the industry alike.
