CE chairs second civil protection management meeting for Typhoon Mangkhut


The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, this morning said that preparatory measurestaken by the SAR Government for Typhoon Mangkhut was smooth so far, and the public has been very cooperative.

He said the Government would continue to work as a whole to protect the public.

Mr Chui once again reviewed the emergency measures taken by the civil protection management team and other government agencies at a meeting at the Civil Protection Operations Centre this morning.

Secretary for Security, Mr Wong Sio Chak, Commissioner-General of the Unitary Police Service, Mr Ma Io Kun, Director-General of the Macao Customs, Mr Vong Iao Lek and the Chief-of-Office of the Office of the Chief Executive, Ms. O Lam, were also at the meeting with representatives of the 29-members civil protection management team.

All participating departments and agencies had reported the measures taken in the wake of Typhoon Mangkhut.

Mr Chui expressed his gratitude to all who take parts in the civil protection, and encouraged them to hang on as typhoon Mangkhut was severe and was forecasted to move in closer proximity of Macau.

He was also grateful that the public, as well as public agencies and gaming operators, were cooperative with the government and comply with the contingency measures taken so far.

He maintained that the SAR Government would continue to work closely with all Macau’s people to protect the pyblic agains the threat of the typhoon.
