DSI and DSAJ collaborated to simplify identity card application procedures for newborn babies

The Identification Services Bureau (DSI) and Legal Affairs Bureau (DSAJ) jointly launched a simplification measure for newborn identity card application.

Starting from today, only the birth report issued by the Civil Affairs Registry is required for the application of ID card for newborn child at DSI, this means that applicants no need to apply the Birth Certificate at the Civil Affairs Registry for the above purpose anymore.

The above-mentioned measure is applicable to those who simultaneously fulfill following conditions: (1) Babies newly born in Macao; (2) Either parent is a Macao resident and registered the baby’s birth with his/her Macao Special Administrative Region Resident Identity Card; (3) Application is lodged within 90 days after the baby’s birth. Applicants who do not fulfill the conditions for simplified application have to follow the normal procedure.

By means of information transfer between DSI and DSAJ, the new measure makes it possible for citizens to conduct birth registration and identity card application on the same day. Moreover, such simplification measure provides citizens with further convenience in terms of reducing time and procedure for applying the Birth Certificate, reaching the aim of facilitating citizens’ lives and enhancing administration efficiency.
