“Mozambique-Fujian-Macao Trade and Investment Forum” to be Held on Thursday

The Forum attracts hundreds of attendees from Mainland China, Portuguese-speaking countries, Macao and different parts of the world every year

The Mozambique-Fujian-Macao Trade and Investment Forum, one of the key activities of the 23rd Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF), will be held at 3 p.m. on 18 October (Thursday) in the Sicily Room of the Venetian Macao. The Forum is jointly organised by Agency for Promotion of Investment and Exports of Mozambique (APIEX), the Department of Commerce of Fujian Province and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM). Government officials and enterprise representatives from the three places will be presenting their latest investment opportunities. The Forum is open to all sectors.

Mozambique and Fujian are respectively the "partner country" and "partner province" of this year’s MIF. Mozambique is an agricultural country in Africa, with rich mineral and forest resources. In recent years, China and Mozambique have made frequent economic and trade exchanges. The bilateral trade volume between January 2018 and July 2018 amounted to 1.492 billion US dollars, demonstrating a surge of 45% year on year. The co-operation in culture, education, science and technology, health and other fields between the two countries has also been continuously deepening. Fujian, with its rapid economic development and advanced industry and commerce, has a solid foundation for co-operation with Macao – a Commercial and Trade Co-operation Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries – in collaboratively “going global” and “bringing in investment”. The Forum aims at enhancing communication and further promoting the economic and trade co-operation between Macao, the Mainland and Portuguese-speaking countries.

A number of co-operation agreements will be signed at the Forum, covering the fields of energy, medicine, science and technology and so on. There will also be business promotion, market research, interaction sessions and more concurrent activities, where government officials and well-known enterprise representatives from the three places will explain from a comprehensive viewpoint the economic and trade environment, investment policies and advantages of the various regions. They will also share their hands-on experience to illustrate how to use the Macao's role as a platform between China and the Lusophone world to expand co-operation and business opportunities.
