The DSEJ will hold the Explanatory Sessions to help the public understand the “Central Registration for Children Entering Kindergarten for the First Time”

In order to continue to optimise schools’ enrolment mechanism, simplify the registration process for parents to enrol their children in kindergarten for the first time, the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (hereinafter referred to as the “DSEJ”) has implemented the “Central Registration for Children Entering Kindergarten for the First Time” (hereinafter referred to as “Central Registration”) since 2016. During the period of “Central Registration” in the academic year of 2019 / 2020, parents enrolling their children (who were born between 2014 and 2016) in infant education in Macao for the first time can consult the enrolment information of different schools on the DSEJ website and register their children online. They do not need to queue up at schools to obtain and submit application forms. In addition, schools do not set limit to the number of registrants and interviewees.

When conducting online registration on the DSEJ website from 4th to 20th January, 2019, parents must fill in and submit the related information for enrolment as well as upload a recent photograph of the child (ID card photo taken in full face, without wearing a hat). After the completion of the online registration, schools will inform parents of the interview dates and time. After interviews, parents can print out the “Registration slip” at self-service kiosks. When schools release the admission list, parents need to make careful consideration and submit the “Registration slip” to the school selected for their child to attend. The enrolment procedures are then completed.

In order to help parents learn about the details of “Central Registration”, the DSEJ will hold several explanatory sessions on it from mid-November, 2018 to introduce the schedule and specific arrangements of the relevant measure. The DSEJ will also demonstrate the operating steps for online registration. There will be special sessions for parents whose children are in child-care centres, and public sessions; to participate in the special sessions, parents must register through child-care centres. As for the public sessions (refer to the table below), the application deadline is one working day before each session. Parents are welcome to call 8397 2309 during office hours for registration or enquiries. Please note that the seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
