The Consumer Council published issue no. 302 Consumer Report, featuring two reports on the effectiveness of quilts and package forwarding service, consumers can visit the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo) to read the detailed reports before purchasing the related products and services.
Eight kinds of quilts tested for warmth and permeability
There are different brands and kinds of quilts on the market, the Consumer Council tested 8 types of duvet, wool, and other mixed materials blankets, shopping tips are given to consumers.
Prices of the tested quilts range from around $600 to almost $2000, testing criteria include effectiveness of keeping warm, permeability and appearance after washing, consumers are suggested to read the report and make purchase according to personal needs.
Weight is an important issue when choosing quilts, the test result shows that the weight of 7 samples are different than the information stated in the label, and duvet is among all the lightest for each cm2 in weight, consumers are reminded to feel the actual weight of the product when making purchase.
Consumers should check the key material of the quilt when making purchase, such as the percentage of down feather in duvet, details of the report is available in the latest issue of Consumer Report.
Maximum compensation amount set for package forwarding service
Consumers use package forwarding service after shopping online at websites based in China for convenience and lower the cost of transportation, the Consumer Council conducted a survey on 7 local companies that provide package forwarding service and a consolidated list of their services, terms, and fees charged has been made.
The survey reviews that any loss of damage caused by the forwarding company will be compensated but usually a maximum amount is set, different pick-up branches also have their own terms and conditions.
Consumer are suggested to fill in the information of the forwarding company completely and accurately on shopping websites, and check if packages are complete with picking up, details of the list can be found in Consumer Report.
