“Tap Siac Craft Market” is inaugurated demonstrating the creativity of different Asian regions

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the “Tap Siac Craft Market” is held from 16 to 18 November and from 23 to 25 November at Tap Siac Square. The Craft Market features a diversity of cultural and creative activities including cultural and creative booths, handicraft workshops, performances and a talk. All are welcome to participate and experience the creative power of different Asian regions.

The opening ceremony of the “Tap Siac Craft Market” was held on 16 November at 6pm at Tap Siac Square and was officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian; the Member of the Administrative Committee of the Cultural Industries Fund, Chu Miu Lai; the Founder of the Life Guangzhou, Liu Qiongxiong; the Designer of CAMPOBAG in Taiwan, Lasa Chang; the Supervisor of the Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong, Wong Mei Ling; and the Representative of Artroad in Korea, Duri Lee.

The President of IC, Mok Ian Ian, referred in her speech that the “Tap Siac Craft Market” has been already held for ten years and after accumulating experience it has become an important platform for cultural and creative practitioners from Macao and different Asian regions to gather, as well as a local famous cultural and leisure event. IC hopes that the “Tap Siac Craft Market” will continue to be successful and play its role as a platform for showcasing the talent and creativity of cultural and creative practitioners, as well as to become one of the important elements in supporting to develop Macao into a world centre of tourism and leisure.

The “Tap Siac Craft Market” is held from 5pm to 10pm on Fridays and from 3pm to 10pm on Saturdays and Sundays, featuring a total of 220 booths of participants from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, Korea and Malaysia, among others, showing the public various distinctive cultural and creative products. In addition, the Craft Market offers 38 creative handicraft workshops to teach the participants the creative handicraft skills, and hosts 40 performances to present local and foreign original music.

During the Tap Siac Craft Market, Zeng Dejun, known as the “Father of Tube Radio” in Mainland China, was invited to host a talk entitled “Originality of a Radio Lover—Zeng Dejun’s Dream of Radio”, in which he will tell his story behind the brand and share his insights on successful branding and marketing. The talk will be held on 17 November, from 3pm to 5pm, at the Macao Museum’s Auditorium, and will be open to the general public.
