UM wins top three prizes and other awards at Macao-wide English Speech Contest

Eight members of the University of Macau (UM) English Public Speaking Team recently participated in the 17th Macao-wide English Speech Contest and the 24th ‘21st Century Cup’ National English Speaking Competition Macao Regional Contest. They won the top three prizes, the Best Impromptu Speaker Award, the Best Manner Award, and five merit awards in the university category.

Nazaré Alva G Cabarrabang, a second-year student from the Faculty of Health Sciences and Chao Kuang Piu College, won the first prize and the Best Impromptu Speaker Award; Lisandra Bautista, a third-year student from the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) and Chao Kuang Piu College, won the second prize and the Best Manner Award. Siu Sok U, a fourth-year student from the FSS and Cheng Yu Tung College, won the third prize.

Five UM students received merit awards. They are Liang Xiaojing, a third-year student from the FSS and Shiu Pong College; Fan Lin, a third-year student from the Faculty of Business Administration and Lui Che Woo College; Dai Yinhang, a second-year student from the FSS and Shiu Pong College; Choi Sok Wa, a first-year student from the Faculty of Education (FED) and Cheong Kun Lun College; and Un Su Kei, a third-year student from the FED and Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College.
