“2018 Macao International Parade” Traffic/Street special measures and instructions to the public


The “2018 Macao International Parade”, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be held on Sunday, 16 December, in celebration of the 19th Anniversary of Macao’s handover to China. In order to facilitate the public’s involvement and enjoyment, the organizer is announcing several arrangements including traffic/street special measures and admission guidelines for the public.

The Parade Opening Ceremony will be held at the Ruins of St. Paul’s on 16 December, at 3pm. From there, the Parade will proceed along Rua de S. Paulo, Rua da Palha, Rua de S. Domingos, Largo de S. Domingos, Senado Square, Travessa do Roquete, Rua da Sé, Calçada de S. João, Avenida da Praia Grande, Praça de Jorge Álvares, Avenida Panorâmica do Lago Nam Van and Avenida Doutor Stanley Ho, culminating in a Handover Celebration at Sai Van Lake Square, which will end at 7pm. The Parade general rehearsal will be held from 8pm to 10pm on 15 December.

On the days of the Parade and of the general rehearsal, traffic/street special measures will be implemented as follows: prior to 9am on 15 December, all tour buses must be removed from the parking zones of Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro; from 9am on 15 December to 4:30pm on 16 December, some parking meters along Praceta do Museu de Macau and Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro will be closed; from 9am on 15 December to 5pm on 16 December, some parking meters along Rua da Sé near the Colégio Diocesano de São José and Avenida da Praia Grande will be closed; from 9am on 15 December to 6:30pm on 16 December, some parking meters along Avenida Panorâmica do Lago Nam Van will be closed; from 9am on 15 December to 9pm on 16 December, some parking meters along Rua da Torre de Macau and Avenida Panorâmica do Lago Sai Van will be closed. From 8pm to 10pm on 15 December, the general rehearsal of the Parade will be held, thus the traffic will be limited along Rua de S. Paulo, Rua da Sé and Calçada de S. João. On the day of Parade, 16 December, temporary closures will be enforced on Rua de S. Paulo and Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro from 12pm to 4:30pm, on Travessa do Roquete and Rua da Sé from 3pm to 5pm; the traffic will be limited on Calçada de S. João, Rua Formosa, Avenida da Praia Grande and Praça de Jorge Álvares from 3:30pm to 5pm; temporary closures will be enforced on Avenida Panorâmica do Lago Nam Van from 3:30pm to 6:30pm; and traffic will be limited on Avenida Doutor Stanley Ho from 3:30pm to 7pm.

Instructions for the public on the day of the Parade, 16 December: Starting from 12:15pm on the day of the Parade, the Ruins of St. Paul’s will be temporarily closed to the public. The audience areas for the Opening Ceremony will be located at the stairway of the Ruins of St. Paul’s. Crowd control measures will be applied to all audience accesses from 12:15pm. The public can line up at the entrance at the junction of Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro and Calçada de S. Paulo to watch the opening ceremony. The Handover Celebration will be held at Sai Van Lake Square, where crowd control measures will be applied to the audience area from 4pm on that day. The public can access the square from the two entrances at the junction of Avenida Doutor Stanley Ho and Sai Van Lake Square. The public should line up at the entrance to watch the Handover Celebration. Due to limited space in the audience area, people who line up at the entrance will be allowed to enter the site until the audience areas are full. Aside from the Opening Ceremony and the Handover Celebration, the public can also watch the performances along the Parade route at Avenida Panorâmica do Lago Nam Van.
