The Busking Programme of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) has been well-received since its launch. In order to strengthen community revitalisation and create a cultural atmosphere, provide more performing platforms for local arts and cultural practitioners and promote quality street performances, IC will offer a Busking point at Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro in 2019 in addition to the existing three performing venues. This additional point will be available for Buskers to perform in the afternoon on weekends and mandatory holidays. In addition, IC is now accepting applications and renewal for the Busker Cards.
The Busking Programme was launched by IC in 2016, providing three Busking points, namely at Anim’Arte NAM VAN, the Taipa Houses and Mount Fortress Garden, for art aficionados to showcase their talent. The programme is supported and well-received by art and cultural practitioners, residents and tourists, creating a lively atmosphere at Busker points.
In response to the demands by Buskers and the community, the IC will offer an additional Busker point at Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro in 2019, after a comprehensive consideration. This Busker point will be available from 1 January 2019. The Buskers should register at the registration counter near the entrance of the School of Music of the Macao Conservatory before they are assigned the performance place by staff on-site. The Busking point will be open from 2pm to 6pm on Saturdays, Sundays and mandatory holidays. Buskers involved in the performing arts, visual arts and creative crafts are welcomed. The Busking point at Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro can only be used by one group (one or two Buskers) at the same time. For more information, please refer to the Guidelines of Busking programme.
The current Busker Cards are valid until 31 December 2018, IC is also accepting new applications and renewal for the Busker Cards. Buskers may renew their Busker Cards at the Old Count Building, from 25 December 2018 to 6 January 2019, from Tuesdays to Sundays, from 10am to 8pm, by presenting their valid Busker Cards. Should a Busker fail to collect the card during the abovementioned period, or the existing Busker Card is invalid or lost, please go to the Cultural Affairs Building for renewal or re-issuance during office hours after 7 January 2019.
In addition, individuals who are interested in the Busking Programme can apply online through the IC’s webpage or in person at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building.
