The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, is calling on local filmmakers to submit proposals for a new cinematic gaze to be produced and screened at the next “Local View Power” (LVP). Candidates willing to share their views on our city have until January 28, 2019 to present their new projects.
With an overall budget MOP1,000,000 for all its categories, this year’s edition will support up to 17 individual proposals. The competition welcomes candidates running on three experience levels, from “Advanced” and “Open” tiers aimed at directors aged 18 or above, to “Freshmen” which welcomes all enthusiastic wannabes. Participants will be running on “Documentary”, “Short Feature” and “Animation” categories, who will be assessed by a panel of professionals recognised in the audio-visual industry.
LVP has been stimulating and nurturing creative works by both emerging and established filmmakers since 2007. The last 11 editions were enthusiastically received with participants submitting over 500 proposals, a strong flow that has resulted in 118 finalized works, some of them, like Crash produced in 2016, awarded overseas, confirming LVP’s creative and productive path. Selected teams will be given technical and financial support to complete their productions, including a Mentorship scheme devised and tutored by guest professionals.
Those who wish to see their ideas materialised on the big screen may download application forms at CCM’s website until January 28, 2019. For further inquiries, please visit www.ccm.gov.mo, or call (853) 2870 0699.
