CE to visit Beijing for talks on advancing Greater Bay Area development


The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, will visit on Thursday (28 February) to Beijing, where he will attend a meeting – to be held on Friday (1 March) – of the Central Government’s leading group for the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area).

Mr Chui will also attend on 5 March the opening of the second session of the 13th National People’s Congress.

While in the capital, the Chief Executive will call at the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Mr Chui will additionally meet with officials of the Guangdong Provincial People’s Government, in order to exchange views on how to press ahead with the goals outlined in the development plan for the Greater Bay Area and how to foster Guangdong-Macao cooperation efforts.

Officials accompanying the Chief Executive to Beijing will include: the Chief-of-Office of the Chief Executive’s Office, Ms O Lam; the Director of the Government Information Bureau, Mr Chan Chi Ping; the Director of the Policy Research and Regional Development Bureau, Mr Mi Jian; the Director of the Protocol, Public Relations and External Affairs Office, Ms Lei Ut Mui; and the President of the Administrative Committee of the Science and Technology Development Fund, Mr Ma Chi Ngai.

During Mr Chui’s absence, the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Leong Vai Tac, and the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Ms Chan Hoi Fan, will take in turn the role of acting Chief Executive.
