Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is promoting Macao as a travel destination at ITB Berlin, running from 6 to 10 March at the German capital, to attract more international visitors from long-haul markets. MGTO also joins the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province and Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) to run a collaborative booth at ITB, tapping into the potential unlocked by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development by showcasing pertinent tourism resources abroad.
MGTO Deputy Director Cheng Wai Tong is in the German capital to head the Macao promotion with the team at ITB Berlin, reputed one of the largest travel fairs in the world. Macao is showcased at the mega travel show through a 63-square-meter booth themed as “Experience Macao Your Own Style” displaying the glamour of Macao as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy alongside its diverse tourism facilities and products. The MGTO team also meets with industry delegates to build stronger connections with the international travel trade and encourage visitations to Macao from a wider variety of source markets.
Consisting of MGTO, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province and HKTB, the Tourism Marketing Organization of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao also capitalizes on the occasion to run a joint booth for Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao at ITB Berlin, besides holding a destination promotion for the Greater Bay Area which attracted around 80 industry operators and tourism officials from abroad yesterday (6 March). Seizing the chance at ITB to roll out one of the joint promotional initiatives in 2019, the Tourism Marketing Organization also placed strategic advertisements at the travel fair and various media platforms thereof.
Gathering over 10,000 exhibitors from more than 180 countries and territories every year, as well as admitting over 170,000 visitors last year, ITB Berlin is a major business platform with vast touristic offers in store for industry operators worldwide. Joining ITB every year, MGTO aims to reinforce the profile of Macao as a travel destination at this large-scale international travel fair to tap into overseas markets and foster connections with the international travel trade.
