The FSS today (19 March) held a press conference on a series of promotional activities for the non-mandatory central provident fund system for 2019. At the meeting, the representatives of the FSS introduced the latest situation of the non-mandatory central provident fund system and the promotion plan for this year. Since the implementation of the non-mandatory central provident fund system from 1 January 2018, the FSS has been committed to promoting the participation of businesses and individuals. At present, 136 employers have already joined the joint provident fund scheme, of which social service organizations account for about 70%, and the rest include public entities, gaming, hotels, restaurants, education, finance, retail, medical and other commercial organizations, and a total of approximately 40,000 residents have participated in the individual provident fund scheme.

In order to attract more residents to understand and join the System and to raise residents’ awareness of their own old-age security, the FSS has been promoting the System through various publicity channels since the promulgation of relevant laws. On 30 March this year (Saturday), the FSS will hold a FSS Promotion Day event with the theme “Accumulate Funds for Your Future” at Jardim do Mercado Municipal de Iao Hon, and the event will focus on introducing the contents of the non-mandatory central provident fund system to residents of the community. In addition to the information board that introduces the System, there will also be staff members to answer questions raised by residents. Furthermore, there will also be stage performances on that day, as well as local online celebrity “Nathan Lam” playing magic with the participants. Residents can enjoy the wonderful performances and at the same time, participate in the booth games to win the mascots of the two-tier social security system “A Pou” and “Kam Chai”.

Besides, the official WeChat account of the FSS “澳門社會保障基金” (FSS_Macau) will launch the MOMEplay prize-winning game from 25 March to 21 April. After participants enter the game page, they will be led by the mascot “Kam Chai” to answer questions relating to the central provident fund system, and they need to accumulate acorns in order to exchange for a chance to draw. Prizes include various electronic products, e-wallet recharge amount, supermarket and food cash coupons, and FSS financial notebooks.

Moreover, the FSS will continue to visit large, medium and small enterprises, and hold a number of explanatory sessions entitled “Navigate by Provident Fund”, and an employer recognition ceremony will be held again at the end of July. During the year, other activities include the community roving exhibition entitled “Provident Fund Acorn”, the campus finance workshops and financial management seminars for seniors.
