To assist government departments in their efforts to catch up with the latest eco technologies, products, and information on environmental protection and improve their sense of environmental protection, the “Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (MIECF) has arranged the “Official Guided Tour” and the “Government Procurement Matching Session” in recent years, promoting green co-operation and exchanges between the government and the industry. During the 2019MIECF, the Guided Tour was provided for representatives from over 30 government departments. The Government Procurement Matching Session was also held later in the afternoon.
Government representatives visited the Greater Bay Area Eco-products and Solutions Pavilions, the Green Building Area, the European Pavilion, and the Macao Local Associations Pavilions, where exhibitors introduced their environmental protection products and services. A promotion session on Local Green Products was conducted before the Tour, where representatives of environmental protection associations from Macao introduced the exhibiting association members and their products/services to representatives of various government departments, allowing them to acquire relevant information.
Government representatives who joined the Official Guided Tour commented that through discussion with exhibitors, they were able to know about the new products and new designs in energy conservation, greening, and air conditioning. They would doubtless recommend the exhibitors to companies or entities that need such products or services. There were also government departments that found suitable services and discussed relevant details with exhibitors through the matching sessions arranged by the Forum. One of them chose to meet with a resource recycling and air conditioning equipment company. There were also companies with whom government departments have previously worked. The session allowed them to acquire information of new technologies and products, and added some of the exhibitors to their supplier list. Whenever they need to procure relevant products, they can refer to the exhibitors’ data.
An exhibitor told us that the Government Procurement Matching Session helped exhibitors to directly introduce their products to government departments interested in buying them. For example, a company was mainly trying to sell their plant moisture and fertility probe. The Forum arranged for several government departments to discuss with the company, deepening their understanding into the products, opening up future business opportunities.
