“Tap Siac Craft Market” is inaugurated

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the “Tap Siac Craft Market” is held from 26 to 28 April and from 3 to 5 May at Tap Siac Square. The Craft Market features a diversity of cultural and creative activities including cultural and creative booths, creative food stalls, handicraft workshops, performances and a graffiti wall. All are welcome to participate and experience creative power of different origins.

The opening ceremony of the “Tap Siac Craft Market” was held on 26 April at 6:15pm at Tap Siac Square and was officiated by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Alexis Tam Chon Weng; the Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Wan Sucheng; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian; the Vice President of the Committee of Cultural Industries, Hsu Hsiu-Chu; the Member of the Administrative Committee of the Cultural Industries Fund, Chu Miu Lai; the Chief of the Division of Cultural, Recreational and Association Affairs of the Department of Cultural and Recreational Affairs and Civic Education of the Municipal Affairs Bureau, Au Chan Weng; the Supervisor of the Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong, Wong Mei Ling; the Founder of CAMPOBAG in Taiwan, Chen Jing Ting; and the Project Manager of The Life Guangzhou, Sarah Nie.

The President of IC, Mok Ian Ian, referred in her speech that the “Tap Siac Craft Market” has already been held for eleven years and has become a brand platform converging diversity and creativity, bringing together the creative power of people in the cultural and creative industries from different regions, thus imbuing the city with creativity and cultural diversity. The Cultural Affairs Bureau hopes to give full display to Macao’s creative power by making every effort to improve the Craft Market’s platform, and expects an even more successful development for the local cultural and creative industries through the participation and support of the public. It is also hoped that the Tap Siac Craft Market will gain more influence and develop into an annual signature event of the cultural and creative industries in the Greater Bay Area.

The “Tap Siac Craft Market” is held from 5pm to 10pm on Fridays and from 3pm to 10pm on Saturdays and Sundays, featuring a total of 220 booths of participants from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Malaysia. Creative food stalls are also available and the public may feel free to enjoy the delicacies while shopping for creative products. During the event, 38 original handicraft workshops and 36 music performances will be held concurrently. Furthermore, a “creative graffiti area” is added to the Craft Market this year and artists from different origins will create their graffiti at the area. Besides, a graffiti area was exclusively designed for children to draw graffiti together with their parents. The “MOMEplay prize-winning game” will also be launched at the Fair. Participants may have a chance to win attractive prizes, including a total of 1,000 exquisite hand-made products offered by booth owners.
