The initial review of the “2018 Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), has been recently completed. The adjudicating panel selected 15 entrants for the second review. Each beneficiary will be granted a subsidy of up to a maximum amount of MOP150,000 to cover the production expenses of the original song albums and relevant items. Besides, each beneficiary will receive advice from veteran music professionals regarding the musical production of the selected album.
The “Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums” aims to cultivate more talented local music creators and producers and promote the development of Macao’s music industry. By giving support on the production and promotion of the original song albums, IC hopes to encourage musicians to produce and release more outstanding works and lay the groundwork for market development. A total of 24 applications were received this year. The professional adjudicating panel has selected 15 entrants as follows (in arbitrary order): Pun Kuan Pou, Ung Kuoc Iang, Chan, José Manuel Yen Lam, Leong Wai Hou, Nunes Pestana Da Silva Caetano, João, Lam Wai Hong, Sou Io Kuong, Ho Ka Meng, Wong Hin Cheng, Lei Chon, Ho Io Kuan, Leong Chi Long, Ian Hao I, Ho Ka Teng, Chang Heng Ian.
Entrants shall submit the “Second Review Information Form for the 2018 Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums”, one complete song, three to five drawings of the album image or design drawings (if any), and introduce their album production plan to the adjudicating panel. The adjudicating panel will select a maximum of eight beneficiaries based on several criteria including level of composition and lyrics, level of arrangement and production, etc.
The adjudicating panel for the Subsidy Programme included Hong Kong music supervisor Schumann, Hong Kong music supervisor and composer Ronald Ng, Hong Kong lyrist Chan Wing Him, Taiwan music producer and arranger Howe Chen and supervisor of Taiwan “StreetVoice” music channel Chen Hung Shu.
