Jointly organised by the China International Contractors Association and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the 10th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) will be held in Macao from May 30 to 31, under the theme “Promoting Quality and Sustainable Development of International Infrastructure”.
Supported by the Central Government, the IIICF has been improving its scale, level of professionalism and participation since it started being stage in Macao. It has not only provided an exchange platform for the international infrastructure sector, it has also generated a synergy with Macao’s Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, allowing Macao to give full play to its institutional, geographic and cultural strengths, while enhancing the city’s competitiveness and its participation in infrastructure collaboration with “Belt and Road” countries and regions.
This edition celebrates the first 10years of the IIICF. The Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index (2019) and the Annual Report on the Belt and Road Construction (2019) will be released during the event, and a chapter of Macao and elements related to Mainland China enterprises participating in infrastructure development in Portuguese-speaking countries have been added into the reports, further recognising Macao’s role as a platform. The inauguration ceremony of IIICF supervision committee and Mainland China-Macao Belt and Road Business and Professional Services Council will be also staged. Various thematic forums, parallel forums and penal sessions will be held, including “Dialogue with Senior Management from MDBs: Investment in Quality and Sustainable Infrastructure”, “International Chambers of Commerce Presidents Forum – Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and Quality and Sustainable Infrastructure Investment”, “Keynote Forum: Pursuing for Quality and Sustainable Infrastructure - from Goals to Practice”, “Parallel Forum: From the Belt and Road to Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area: Opportunities and Challenges of Infrastructure Connectivity”, “Parallel Forum: From the Belt and Road to Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area: Opportunities and Challenges of Infrastructure Connectivity”, “Parallel Forum: Conference of Central Bankers, Financial Supervisors and Financiers from China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, “Parallel Forum: Maximizing the Role of Finance in Promoting Practical Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries- Focusing on Project Investment and Financing, Sharing Successful Experience and Exploring Cooperation Mode”. Exhibitions, project presentations and matching sessions and business meetings are held during the event, serving as platform that enhances the interaction and collaboration among attendees.
In addition, in order to motivate active participation of Macao’s relevant sectors and maximise Macao’s influence as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, the co-organisers of this year’s IIICF include the Monetary Authority of Macao, the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), the Macao Chamber of Commerce, the Macau Association of Banks, the Macau Construction Association, the Association of Returned Overseas Chinese Macau, the Macao Association of Building Construction and Developers, the Macau Construction Machinery Engineering Association, the Macau Institution of Engineers, the Macau Institution of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, the Architects Association of Macau, the Macau Society of Civil and Structural Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers of Macau, and other governmental departments.
A number of government officials from Mainland China and overseas regions, over 30 leaders of multilateral developers and international financial institutions, more than 700 renowned construction contractors, construction equipment suppliers and representatives of the industrial chain have been invited to the IIICF this year.
Starting from 2012, the International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum have been held in Macao for seven years consecutively. Last year’s IIICF achieved fruitful results by organising 14 penal sessions, thematic forums and parallel forums were held, 160 business meetings and matching sessions, which enabled a total of 17 collaboration projects to be signed.
