UM presents academic prizes to outstanding graduating students

The University of Macau (UM) today (24 May) presented academic prizes to 66 outstanding graduates at the Congregation 2019. In this academic year, the university gave out over MOP 4 million in more than 60 kinds of academic prizes and scholarships to over 400 students.

In his speech, Rector Yonghua Song congratulated the students and expressed his gratitude to all scholarship donors. According to Song, the Outline of Strategies for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has created new opportunities for the higher education sector in Macao. UM will seize the opportunities in order to create a better teaching and learning environment for faculty members and students and to provide a bigger platform for students to showcase their talents. In the future, UM will devote more resources into projects that will benefit the students so they can concentrate on their studies and pursue their goals. He also encouraged the award recipients to keep abreast of the development of Macao and China and share their knowledge with others.

16 kinds of academic prizes were awarded to 66 graduates at the ceremony, namely Macau Foundation Academic Prize, Henry Fok Foundation Academic Prize, Bank of China Academic Prize, Luso International Bank Academic Prize, ICBC Macau Academic Prize, MECOM Power - Hung Yip Group Academic Prize, Wu's Group Academic Prize, Choi Kai Yau Academic Prize, Lou Tou Vo Mathematics Academic Prize, Jorge Alvares Foundation Academic Prize, BNU Academic Prize, CEM Academic Prize, Synopsys Academic Prize, EasyTone Academic Prize, Macau Civil Engineering Laboratory (LECM) Academic Prize, and ERS Academic Prize.
