Children’s Theatre Discovering the Forbidden City at CCM

The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents The Little Kid in the Forbidden City, a children’s theatre to be staged in two shows on June 5 and 6 (Wednesday and Thursday) at CCM’s Grand Auditorium.

Brought by the Beijing Poly company, the play tells the adventure of a little kid who is taking the day to visit her grandfather, a relic restorer working at the Forbidden City. As she plays with a magnifying glass, the little girl is suddenly taken into a distant world.

Featuring a recorded soundtrack by Cai Guoqing, a well-known singer, and his son, the performance was written in tandem with a team of historians specialized on The Forbidden City, one of Beijing’s widely known landmarks, listed has UNESCO’s world heritage. Performed in Mandarin with Chinese surtitles, the show was conceived to let the little audience know about the importance of history and tradition, inspiring children to protect heritage, cultivating their roots and making the most of collective memories.

CCM is presenting The Little Kid in the Forbidden City on June 5 and 6, 2019 at the Grand Auditorium.
