2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Film Production Investment and Trade Fair now calls for submissions of Macao film projects

The 2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Film Production Investment and Trade Fair (hereafter referred to as ‘the Fair’), co-organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macao (IC), the Film Administration of Guangdong Province and Create Hong Kong, is calling for submissions of Macao film projects from 28 May until 5:00pm, 14 June. All interested parties from the film industry are welcome to submit their works.

Co-organized by the film authorities of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the Fair has been held in Macao since 2014, with the aim of providing a high-level and convenient communication platform for film producers and investors from the three regions, as well as creating an investment and collaboration network for the film industries. The past editions of the Fair attracted a total of 111 film projects from the three regions and approximately 210 representatives of investors, thus propelling an integrated development of the film industry in the Greater Bay Area.

Applicants of the Macao film projects to the 2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Film Production Investment and Trade Fair must be 18 years old or above and hold a valid Macao SAR Resident Identity Card. Each applicant may submit one unfinished film only; he/she must be the director of the film and must have directed one feature film with a running time of over 20 minutes which has been publicly screened. The adjudicating panel, composed of a group of professionals from the film industry invited by IC, will select a maximum of eight film projects based on four criteria: creativity of the story, experience and execution capability of the applicant and the production team, project feasibility and budget rationality. The selected projects from Macao will then be assessed together with other projects from Hong Kong and Guangdong Province by judges from the three regions, and a maximum of 15 projects will be selected to enter the Fair.

The application forms can be downloaded at the Cultural Affairs Bureau website (www.icm.gov.mo) and at the Macao Cultural and Creative Industries Website (www.macaucci.gov.mo). Applicants should submit the completed application form and all required documents to the Department for Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, located at Cultural Affairs Bureau Building at Tap Siac Square before the submission deadline. For enquiries, please contact Mr. Kuan, staff member of IC, through (853) 8399 6295 during office hours.
