The Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM) paid a visit to the Macau Civil Aviation Employees Association (the Association) and interacted with the members on the future planning of Macao’s aviation and how the industry integrates into the expansion of the Greater Bay Area growth. AACM hoped to construct the healthy and orderly development of Macao’s aviation through soliciting the views and opinions of the industry.
“AACM interacts with Macau Civil Aviation Employees Association” was an activity organized by the Authority for the 2019 Youth Project. Led by the AACM President, Mr. Chan Weng Hong, the senior management of the Authority visited the Association at the latter’s headquarter. The Authority took the opportunity to organize a talk for the association members to share with them the future planning of Macao’s aviation and how the industry integrates into the expansion of the Great Bay Area growth. President Chan Weng Hong mentioned that there is immense potential in the economic growth of the Greater Bay Area with its population being over 67 million and the gross national product exceeding USD1.3 trillion. In the air transport side, the passenger volume in the Greater Bay Area reached 210 million in 2018, leading the top position among all the bay areas in the world. President Chan Weng Hong suggested that the airports in the Pearl River Delta should link with each other to facilitate the mobilization of the residents between the cities. President Chan Weng Hong also said that the Macau International Airport should make the best endeavours to attract the residents in the Greater Bay Area to travel outbound via the Macao airport through multi-modal transport link.
The aviation industry of mainland China is expanding at a speedy rate. The aviation industry of Macao will also grow into a whole new phase upon the approval of the Macau International Airport Master Plan by the Central Government. Job opportunities are therefore promising. President Chan Weng Hong encouraged the industry people to continue to develop their expertise and contribute to Macao. The President also said that if the industry people wish to explore their career path in the Greater Bay Area, they can take the opportunity of the cooperation arrangements established between mainland china, Hong Kong and Macao to look for their ambitions.
The Macau Civil Aviation Employees Association is comprised of members who come from different operators and hold different roles and different positions. AACM would therefore wish to take the opportunity to solicit the views and opinions of the industry people with the aim of creating a cooperation platform for both sides to work together to build a brighter future for Macao’s aviation. The focus of this youth project was to listen to what the industry working class had in their mind. The attendees from the Association were active in expressing their views and opinions on aspects such as the air space development, the business aviation growth, the liberalization of the air transport market, the training of the aviation people, the development of the smart airport and so on. President Chan Weng Hong said that one of the initiatives of the Greater Bay Area Plan is to establish the air transport market of the Bay Area to be the top in the world. AACM will therefore study into the ideas collected in the meeting and devise measures to achieve the betterment of the industry.
The main participants from AACM were the President, Mr. Chan Weng Hong, the Vice President Mr. Pun Wa Kin, the Director of the Airport Infrastructure and Air Navigation, Mr. Lam Tat Ming, the Acting Director of the Flight Standards and Licensing, Mr. Cheong Chong Leong, the Acting Head of Flight Standards, Mr. Fong Wai Long. The main representatives of the Association were the board members including Mr. Zhang Jin Wen, Mr. Hu Gao Hong, Mr. Ning Jun Lin and Mr. Tang Xiao Feng.
