“2nd Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” Tickets for the film festival and concert are on sale

The “2nd Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, features a series of highlighted activities. Tickets for two thematic activities, “China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival” and “Traditional Chinese Strings and Fado” Concert by the Macao Chinese Orchestra will be available on 22 June (Saturday) and 25 June (Tuesday), respectively.

The “China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival” will be held from 4 to 17 July at the Macao Cultural Centre Small Auditorium and the Cinematheque・Passion respectively. This year’s Film Festival, dedicated to the theme of “Classics’ Review”, “New Vision of China and the Portuguese-speaking countries” and “Olá Macao”, presents 26 films from China (including Macao) and the Portuguese-speaking countries, and features post-screening sessions and talks on various films. The opening film Spring in a Small Town by the famous poet-and-director Fei Mu will be screened on 4 July, at 7:45pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Small Auditorium. Professor of the Peking University Dai Jinhua were invited to hold a post-screening talk on the Chinese cinema and its focus on rural landscape and urban perspectives after the screening. The public is welcomed to participate. The closing film The Portuguese Woman, an experimental work by famous Portuguese director Rita Azevedo Gomes, will be presented. Adapted from the short story by Austrian writer Robert Musil, the film has been nominated in the shortlist for Berlin International Film Festival 2018 and Mar del Plata Film Festival 2018, not to be missed. In addition, a number of excellent local short films also will be screened, bringing the audience a wonderful cinema and video journey through this platform of artistic exchange between China and Portugal.

Excellent shows take to the stage one after the other. The Macao Chinese Orchestra will join hands with Hélder Moutinho, a famous Fado singer from Portugal, to present the concert “Traditional Chinese Strings and Fado” on 5 July, at 8pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. The concert fully demonstrates the achievements of cultural and artistic exchanges between China and Portugal and reflects the unique charm of the harmonious integration of Chinese and Portuguese cultures. In the concert, the Macao Chinese Orchestra will present a number of beautiful classics of Chinese music, offering the audience a new musical experience.

Tickets for the “China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival” will be available from 10am on 22 June at the Cinematheque‧Passion, at the price of MOP60, with various discount packages and special offers available. More information about the screenings and ticketing can be obtained through the website www.cinematheque-passion.mo or contact the Cinematheque; tickets for “Traditional Chinese Strings and Fado” Concert by the Macao Chinese Orchestra will be available from 10:30am on 25 June (Tuesday), at the Macau Ticketing Network (www.macauticket.com), at the price of MOP250, MOP200 and MOP150. A 40% discount will be offered to the Friends of the Macao Chinese Orchestra and Macao residents (each cardholder can only use one discounted ticket).
