Timetable published for procedures relating to CE Election

The President of the Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election, Ms Song Man Lei, briefs reporters on the meeting.

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election published on Tuesday (25 June) the timetable for the procedures relating to the Chief Executive Election.

Individuals interested in becoming a candidate for the post of Chief Executive may submit a nomination form during a period running from 8 July to 23 July. The Commission will then assess whether the person meets the criteria for eligibility.

The Commission’s President, Ms Song Man Lei, talked to reporters after a meeting on Tuesday that dealt with preparations for the Chief Executive Election. The poll will be on 25 August.

According to the Chief Executive Election Law, individuals interested in standing as a candidate for the post of Chief Executive must receive at least 66 nominations drawn from among those people that are members of the Chief Executive Election Committee.
