The University of Macau’s (UM) Department of Portuguese will kick off the 33rd Portuguese Language Summer Course on 15 July (Monday). This year’s course will be attended by about 500 students from 13 countries and regions.
The three-week course will last until 2 August. Students will have the opportunity to participate in various activities, such as Portuguese folk dance, choral singing, fitness class, and classes in creative writing, calligraphy and painting. Participants will also have full access to all the amenities on campus, such as the table tennis courts, basketball courts, football field, volleyball court, swimming pool, gym room, and restaurants. There will also be cultural activities, such as visits to local museums and the Historic Centre of Macao;
Ever since its launch, the Portuguese Language Summer Course aims to improve participants’ Portuguese language proficiency and enhance their understanding of Portuguese culture. This year’s course will continue to provide an interactive experience for participants so as to help them learn more about the linguistic, historical, social, economic, political and cultural aspects of Macao as well as the city’s uniqueness as a place where East meets West.
This year’s course will be attended by about 500 students from mainland China, Macao, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Italy, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and the United States.
