Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, Haojiang Moonlight Night - Dance Drama “Thangka”, one of the featuring events of the “Art Macao”, will be presented on 13 September, at 8pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. The performance is organized by the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, and co-organized by the Qinghai Provincial Department of Culture & Tourism and presented by the Qinghai Province Performing Arts Group Co., Ltd. Tickets will be on sale from 1 August at the Macao Ticketing Network.
The large-scale national dance drama “Thangka” depicts Thangka artists painting with their lives, reverently and persistently inheriting and carrying forward the true, the good and the beautiful, as well as the art of Thangka painting. The whole drama reveals a story of three times of life by the unique structure of "the previous life, another life and this life", revealing the theme of profound Tibetan culture. The passion and love of the hero and heroine for Thangka and Tibetan culture run through the whole drama. “Tangka” is also a dance drama with historical and humanistic sentiments, which integrates local folk customs, music, dance, architecture, painting of Qinghai, presenting the local customs and practices, inheriting and reserving the intangible cultural heritage by artistic means.
Qinghai Province Performing Arts Group praises the spirit of Thangka art, conveys a strong and rich artistic appeal and inherits traditional Chinese culture with vivid characters and innovative stage vocabulary; in the past three years, “Tangka” has been selected into large-scale stage art work project of the National Endowment for the Arts, the key creative dramas of Qinghai Province, and the performance to celebrate the 22nd anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the Motherland. Its performance has been well received by all walks of life.
