CE congratulates Mr Ho Iat Seng on his appointment as Macao’s fifth-term Chief Executive

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, today congratulated Mr Ho Iat Seng on his appointment by the Central Government as the fifth-term Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).

The Premier of the State Council, Mr Li Keqiang, today presented Mr Ho Iat Seng with Decree No. 719 of the State Council, which confirmed Mr Ho’s appointment. Mr Ho will take office on 20 December 2019.

Mr Chui said in his message that Mr Ho had – since the establishment of the Macao SAR – taken on a number of prominent positions to serve the country and the SAR. Mr Ho’s commitment and contributions to the country and the Macao SAR were widely recognised, Mr Chui stated.

Mr Ho’s election victory, achieved by obtaining a high number of votes, illustrated the extensive support for him across all parts of the community in Macao, Mr Chui said.

The Chief Executive believed Mr Ho and his team would certainly lead Macao toward an even more prosperous chapter of development and an even fuller implementation of the “One country, two systems” principle.

To support fully Mr Ho in forming a new administration, Mr Chui has issued a directive to the Government Secretaries and public departments. The directive asked them to provide full support in relation to human resources, materials and logistics.

Expenses arising from such support would be allocated either from the Chief Executive's Office or from the Financial Services Bureau, in the scenario where such spending could not clearly be linked either to the function of a particular Secretarial Office of the Government or a public entity.

The Executive Order regarding Mr Chui’s directive will be published tomorrow (Thursday) in the Macao SAR Gazette.
