The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government will hold a series of activities in Macao inviting the local community to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

At 8am on National Day, 1 October (Tuesday), there will be a flag raising ceremony held at Golden Lotus Square. The ceremony will be broadcast live on television channels of Teledifusão de Macau (TDM). It will be followed by a run to commemorate National Day.

The Government will also make available at several outdoor public venues large screens to broadcast live a military parade taking place in Beijing on National Day, allowing members of the public to watch the event. Large screens will be available at the following locations: Senado Square; Amizade Plaza; Tap Seac Square; Rotunda de Carlos da Maia; Iao Hon Market Garden; Feira do Carmo in Taipa (near Rua do Cunha); a recreational area at Seac Pai Van public housing complex; and Hac Sa Campsite in Coloane.

A National Day reception hosted by the Macao SAR Government will be held on Sunday (29 September) at the Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre.

A number of Macao SAR Government departments will hold events to celebrate the anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. Firework displays – arranged by the Macao Government Tourism Office – will take place on the waterfront near the Macau Tower at 9pm and at 9.40pm on 1 October.

An acrobatic show titled “The Golden Hooped Rod” – presented by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR – will be held on 30 September and 1 October, at 7.30pm, at the Macao Forum.

The Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will collaborate with China Post and Hongkong Post to jointly issue a stamp booklet to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Stamping services will be available respectively at its headquarters building and at the Communications Museum, from 9am to 5.30pm on Tuesday.

The Municipal Affairs Bureau will hold on 1 October, at 5pm, a performance featuring youth representatives from different ethnic groups within China and young artists from Macao.
