CE to visit Beijing for 70th anniversary celebration


At the invitation of the Central Government, the Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, will tomorrow (30 September) lead a Macao delegation to Beijing to participate in events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

While in the capital, the delegation will attend during the morning of National Day (1 October) a grand gathering at Tiananmen Square, and the subsequent military parade and large-scale pageantry. In the evening, the delegation will attend a celebratory gala in Tiananmen Square.

The Macao delegation is made up of 150 people, representing: the Macao SAR Government; associations from various sections of society; the business sector; and local groups associated respectively with culture, charity work, education, sport, the professional sector, and young people.

The delegation will return to Macao on Wednesday (2 October). During the Chief Executive’s absence, the Secretary for Security, Mr Wong Sio Chak, will take on the role of Acting Chief Executive.
