Macau Grand Prix motorsport stars are cream of the crop in IFTM gastronomy experience

Drivers and riders pay attention to the demonstration.

Drivers and riders from the four headlines races at this year’s Suncity Group 66th Macau Grand Prix showed off their culinary skills at the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) today (November 13th), ahead of the weekend’s big event in the Macau Grand Prix IFTM Gastronomy Experience.

Chef de Cuisine of the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM), Chef Hans Lee Rasmussen and his colleagues, welcomed the competitors from the Suncity Group Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix – FIA F3 World Cup, SJM Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup, Suncity Group Macau Guia Race – FIA WTCR and the Suncity Group Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix – 53rd Edition. The competitors worked in pairs together with IFTM students to prepare a number of traditional Macanese culinary dishes: Baked crab in a shell; minchi, a popular local dish made with minced meat; pastel de nata egg tarts; and Bicho Bicho shortbread cookies.

Following a tasting of their prepared dishes, the drivers and riders who participated in the traditional Wednesday pre-Grand Prix event were presented with a commemorative IFTM cook book.

The IFTM was established in 1995 and offers degree and professional programmes in a wide range of tourism-related disciplines, including the culinary arts. Last year, Macao became a UNESCO-designated Creative City of Gastronomy.
