The “28th China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival” was held from 19 to 23 November in Xiamen, Fujian province. The films Diago and Nobody Nose, directed by Macao writer Lio Chi Heng, were screened at the “Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Film Festival” session. A delegation of representatives from the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the local film industry attended the Festival in Xiamen on 20 November, during which they exchanged views with representatives of the film industry from all over the world and promoted Macao films.
The film Diago, adapted from the writer’s novel As Alucinações de Ao Ge, depicts the cultural identities and life choices of Macao’s unique Macanese community before the handover from the people’s perspective. The production was also a tribute to the 10th anniversary of the Macao’s handover to China.
The film Nobody Nose, a collaborative project between Macao and Mainland China, is adapted from the novels of three local writers: Cowardly by Tai Pi, Have a Change of Luck by Joe Tang and Broken Line by Eric Chau. The screenwriter integrated the three novels into a complete story of suspense, giving an account of an intricate case of financial fraud.
