Celebrate 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR with the art of light Local mapping shows will come into spotlight on 20th December

Macao Light Festival 2019 extends bests wishes for Macao’s new pinnacle of prosperity

Unveiled on 1st December, “Macao Light Festival 2019 – Explore the Light” continues to light up the city with a beautiful extravaganza for residents and visitors in joyful celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region. The Festival offers a wonderful way to fill this festive season with sparkling memories, as Winter solstice, Christmas and New Year’s Eve successively arrive. Two local teams will present projection mapping shows from 20th to 31st December, offering spectators a window onto the trail Macao has blazed through the last two decades and a gaze into the bright future.

Staged at the Ruins of St. Paul’s during the aforementioned period (except on 24th December), “The Time of Joy” weaves colorful and animated patterns and lines synchronized with the vigorous rhythm of its original music, into the story of Macao as a fishing village in the old days, the cityscape in cultural harmony and the joyful celebrations of the 20th anniversary. At the St. Joseph’s Seminary Church, another local show “Let’s ‘20’ Together!” celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR through diverse and colorful projections. Images of sprout, lotus, festive carnival and other elements are incorporated into the show to symbolize Macao’s flourishing development in the last two decades and visualize the city’s future brimming with dreams and hopes.

Besides enjoying the mapping shows which celebrate the joy of Macao, residents and visitors can send their best wishes for Macao onto the big screen of “Joy to the World” beneath the white canopy at Nam Van via the mobile app for Macao Light Festival 2019, or capture the momentous occasions of the city through the journey from 1999 to 2019 at the interactive light installation “Memory in Time” at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre. In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR, the event will draw this meaningful year for Macao to a perfect end.
